Poker 101.
August 29, 2009
Alright, so I have this friend who plays poker on the weekends, and he basically thinks he’s the best out there. We’ll call him Phil. I’ve never seen Phil play before, but for the sake of this post, let’s just give him the benefit of the doubt. So how did Phil get so good at playing poker? From this video:
“This is a very strong hand, I have a backdoor flush draw, a straight draw and I also have a pair draw.” Hahaha, this guy is a baller. He’s pro, for sure. If you play like him, you’ll win everytime.
Seriously.

No, idiot… haha ;]
Possible split point (& a plot change) revealed!
August 29, 2009
Josh Herdman (Goyle in HP) talked at MuggleMayhem, a non-profit symposium hosted in the UK, several weeks ago and said that the current plan was to split Deathly Hallows right after the trio are captured by the Snatchers and taken to Malfoy Manor. While, this did come from Herdman himself, there is always a chance that this plan will change in the course of filming.
Also, Herdman revealed that his character, Goyle, would be the one who dies instead of Crabbe. Jamie Waylett, who plays Crabbe, was charged with cannabis possession several months ago. He is not expected to return for Deathly Hallows.
It’s always sad when a really awesome cast loses a member, but losing Crabbe will not be that heart-breaking. We have a while before Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (and counting down the days might be a little ridiculous) so: about 15 months left. We can do it! ;]

PS. You might have noticed that I actually got an award for my HP posts, which I’m insanely excited about, so probably expect more HP-related news from now on (:

Honestly, kudos to the casting agency for New Moon. I think they NAILED the Volturi looks down. They are just the right amount of creepy evil.

Rupert Grint shares our sentiments.

He doesn’t want Harry Potter to end either! While we’re all counting down the months till the part 1 release of Deathly Hallows, somewhere (deep, deep down) we are dreading its release because it is just a step closer to the end of the Harry Potter movies. I don’t know about you, but I grew up with the trio and their Hogwarts adventures. Now that the series (book-wise) is over, I’m kind of at a loss on what to read next. Sure, there are plenty of other books out there, but how many books will have you hanging onto every word? Or going to a bookstore at midnight to stand in line with fellow fans? For almost 10 years, I have lived alongside Harry and the others as they battled Voldemort and his minions of Death Eaters. Voldemort’s death sentence (pun intended; if you don’t get it, you’re not an obsessive fan) was bittersweet. We’ve been waiting years to read that sentence and now it’s over. Sure, you can read it over (and over and over and over, in my case), but it never changes. Harry still disarms Voldemort and Voldy still dies.
Wow, I went off on a major tangent. ANYWAY, back to Rupe. The BBC interviewed the actor of Ronald Weasley. The actor admitted that he was definitely sad to see the Potter series come to an end.
“I’m just trying to make the most of it really because it is going to end. I think it is going to be sad, but I’m ready to move on as well.”
The ending of the Potter movies will definitely be bittersweet, but the fandom will continue to obsess and reread for a very long time. (;

We officially have a Seth and Leah Clearwater.
August 18, 2009
A while ago, there was an open audition for the parts of Seth and Leah Clearwater for the third installment of the Twilight saga, Eclipse. For several weeks, we all stared at mirror reflections that were disappointingly NOT Native American. Our misery is over because the spots have been filled (so we can stop dreaming…)

Julia Jones will play Leah Clearwater.

Boo Boo Stewart will play Seth.
First day of school.
August 18, 2009
Coming back to school made me realize how much I hate that place. Especially when it’s undergoing construction. I made the mistake of wearing dark skinny jeans so whenever I looked down at my jeans, there was dust on them. Anyway, so I’m sure you guys are sooo excited to hear about my classes… no? Oh well, too bad.
01 – Physics. Science first thing in the morning doesn’t seem like a good idea, but the class is okay. I like the people in my class and my teacher is cheesy funny with a Southern accent. People that know me know I’m obsessed with accents (:
02 – Journalism. OH MY GOD, best class ever. The first thing that my teacher said was, “You two Asians [my friend Christy and I] cannot sit by each other.” And then he proceeded to harass the freshman. It was fabulous. Not to mention he was reading Pride and Prejudice and Zombies which I have yet to read, but Alessia said it was fantastic. The only con was he has never picked up Harry Potter or seen the movies. In my world, that is so absurd it’s almost a felony. No matter, that class is awesome.
03 – Intro to Eng Design. Two words: boys’ class. There are seriously 3 girls out of the twenty-ish kids. I guess engineering isn’t a feminine class. (Does that make me butch?) Anyway, so we spent the entire class being lectured on life. I wish I had written down some of the analogies my teacher said; they were very Chicken Soup-esque. Do you guys remember those books? Classics.
04 – AP Calc (AB). I know this is going to be a bad class. First, I know no one since all my friends are wonder child prodigies and chose to take AP Calc (BC). Second, I didn’t even get a book! We ran out right at the very end… curse my ‘W’ last name! Not to mention, it’s calculus.
05 – AP Gov. Ehhhh, not so sure about this class yet. The teacher is awesome, but government has never been a good subject for me. It’s too much reading about… governments. Not to mention it’s AP… I have not fully recovered from AP Euro yet.
06 – Spanish IV. EW EW EW EW EW. I cannot believe I guilt-tripped myself into taking this. I originally was planning on dropping it, but then I figured that colleges would like 4 years of a foreign language. I hate the sensible side of me.
07 – AP Lit & Comp. I actually planned on liking this class… until I found out who my teacher was. Apparently ‘um’ is a conjuction. What kind of LANGUAGE ARTS teacher can’t string a sentence together without using ‘um’?! Seriously, I was so bored I tallied the number of times she said it. 73 times, ladies and gents. New record.
So, that was my first day of school.
… is summer vacation almost here yet?

Thanks, FAILbook.

Has anyone else seen this ad? Really Facebook? How are Demi Lovato and Twilight related at all? Why would Twilight fans be interested in Demi Lovato? I mean, sure, both their fandoms have fans around a similar age group… but STILL. What about the closet-fan boys? Would Demi Lovato’s new CD really attract them? This makes no sense.
*By the way, I LOVE and own Demi Lovato’s new CD, BUT THAT DOESN’T MEAN ANYTHING! ;]

96 days could not go by any slower.
August 17, 2009
I just watched the New Moon preview and words cannot describe how unbelievably fangirl I am at the moment. I literally wanted to go out and buy a Team Jacob shirt (that feeling lasted for about 20 seconds).
AMAZING, right? 96 days, 96 days, 96 days. And we see Dakota Fanning as Jane for the first time. She looks evil, I love it! I can’t wait to see how she portrays Jane. Oh, and Taylor Lautner’s “30 pounds heavier” line was probably my favorite thing he’s ever said. :]]
The vibe is so much different than Twilight. Twilight tried to appear epic and awesome with ‘Lord of the Rings’ style music and “NOTHING WILL EVER BE THE SAME” mantras, whereas New Moon captures the spirit effortlessly. Chris Weitz, you’re the man.
XO, Becca.
WHAT?!

WHERE ON EARTH DID THE SUMMER GO? Tomorrow does NOT feel like it should be the first day of school… I seriously feel like my summer just started, it’s so depressing. Anyway, so since school is now in session, I have homework and tennis to balance, but I do plan to keep on blogging! I’m taking a journalism class, so maybe I can draft stuff there in my spare time ;]
Some things to look forward to: a possible return of Weekly Who anddddd a fun new look thanks to Dan! Seriously, he’s like a computer genius. Normally, he charges money but I finally got him to make me a layout for free :] He’s pretty awesome. So, expect a new layout in the future!
Now I’ve got to go enjoy the last few hours of my summer and find my schedule… it’s RAINING. Doesn’t that just seem like a bad omen to start the school year on? Blehh.
XO, Becca.
