Happy Birthday JK Rowling!
July 31, 2009

Today is the one and only JK Rowling’s birthday (: and not to mention, the birthday of the infamous teen-wizard Harry Potter. Fans all over the world should be celebrating this happy day when our favorite author of all time was born. Who knew she would end up creating one of the most popular fantasy series, not to mention become one of GB’s richest women? As a poor single mother in the ’90s, she probably didn’t! JKR turns 44 today.
Happy birthday JKR & Harry Potter!

The dazzling men of the Volturi are “one-upping” Taylor and Rob in the upcoming film New Moon. At Comic Con, we got to see two clips where both Jacob (Lautner) and Edward (Pattinson) reveal their newly toned and very sculpted upper bods. However, in a recent interview Jamie Campbell Bower (aka Caius) said that fans will have even more muscled bodies to drool at.
“We just all sit there, completely naked, for one scene. Yeah, it’s me, Michael Sheen and Christopher [Heyerdahl]; we just sit there, naked.”
If that quote isn’t enough to get you excited for the movie, I don’t know what is!

>> Hey, sorry about how infrequently I’m posting nowadays, I promise its temporary! At the moment, I’m being bogged down by insane amounts of SAT prep homework, AP Lit homework, and I don’t have a permanent computer yet. I ended up not getting my Macbook as quickly as I wanted due to some parental issues, but once I get the computer, I WILL be posting more often!

The new face of Victoria
Rachelle Lefevre will be replaced by Bryce Dallas Howard as Victoria in the third installment of the Twilight Saga. Fear not, Vic-fans (come on, I’m sure there’s SOME… you guys can’t all be EDWARD+BELLA 4EVA fangirls, right?) Lefevre WILL be in New Moon, but after that, she’ll be leaving the cast to fulfill other obligations.
The official statement from Summit:
THE TWILIGHT SAGA ADDS ACTRESS BRYCE DALLAS HOWARD TO FILM FRANCHISE
Actress Rachelle Lefevre Will Be Replaced By Howard In The Role Of Victoria
Los Angeles – July 28, 2009 – Summit Entertainment announced today that Bryce Dallas Howard will take over the role of “Victoria” in the studio’s upcoming production of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE. Actress, Rachelle Lefevre, who portrayed the character in TWILIGHT as well as the upcoming release of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON, will not continue in the role due to scheduling conflicts with another commitment the actor has made. THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE will start filming in Vancouver this coming August.THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE, the third film in the studio’s TWILIGHT film franchise based on Stephenie Meyer’s blockbuster book series, will be directed by David Slade from a screenplay written by Melissa Rosenberg. The film will be released theatrically in North America on Wednesday, June 30, 2010.
“We are incredibly happy that Bryce has agreed to come into the franchise,” said Erik Feig, Summit’s President of Worldwide Production and Acquisitions. “Rachelle brought “Victoria” to great screen life and Bryce will bring a new dimension to the character. The franchise is lucky to have such a talented actress as Bryce coming in to fill the role.”
Howard most recently starred in TERMINATOR SALVATION as Kate Connor and has been seen in SPIDER-MAN 3, LADY IN THE WATER, and THE VILLAGE. She was nominated for a Golden Globe for her leading performance as an actress in the HBO film AS YOU LIKE IT.
In THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger as Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob — knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella is confronted with the most important decision of her life.
Howard is represented by ICM and Management 360.
Twitter was all a-buzz (a-twitt, if you will) with Tweets pouring in about how “shocked and devastated” they were. I have mixed feelings, I mean… yeah, it’s kind of surprising: the cast’s first ‘drop-out,’ but Bryce Dallas Howard is as good an actress as Rachelle Lefevre is. Some might say that casting her was a smart move by Summit because BDH is definitely more widely known by main-stream fans (she was seen in Terminator Salvation, Spider-Man 3, etc) and probably would attract a lot of guys.
In the pictures I found of her, she looked surprisingly like Alice Cullen: thin, short spiky hair. But I have faith in David Slade and all the costume people to pull a viciously mean and dangerously gorgeous Victoria.
In my opinion, I’m kind of disappointed with the casting. I mean, I love BDH in all her movies, but I was hoping they’d kind of go a more ‘Harry Potter’ route and choose more fresh actors. You know, actors we’ve never really seen before, but have potential to be really great? However, I do believe the casting of BDH works with the increasingly mainstream cast with well-known faces such as Dakota Fanning and Jamie Campbell-Bower. While, I am a tiny bit disappointed, I’m really looking forward to see what all these new faces can bring to the movies.

Japan ‘09: Celebritylife.
July 24, 2009
I love love loved Japan. It was fabulous, clean, and the food was amazing. Complete opposite of China. In Japan, we stayed at the most expensive hotels, (window) shopped at designer stores (Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Hermes, etc.) and ate at the finest restaurants. After the disappointment of China, Japan was like a breath of fresh air… not to mention you could actually BREATHE fresh air. In China, the pollution was horrible.
Also, there was no censorship in Japan! I could view any site I wished to see: Facebook, Twitter, etc. What a luxury!
I’m thinking of maybe coming back on my own next summer since I’ll be in Harbin, China teaching English. My aunt, who lives in Japan, lives a life of a celebrity. She buys her groceries at designer stores, is known at all the best restaurants, and constantly receives gifts from designers. WHY NOT ME?! But it’s okay. She gave me presents and took me to expensive restaurants, so technically I lived like a celebrity for 3 days. Ahh, bliss.
Not to mention Japan has heated toilet seats! I was really excited about this at first. But when you think about it, it kind of gives you the unpleasant feeling of someone sitting for a really long time before you. So… unheated toilet seats it is!
I seriously cannot wait to go back!

So I went to China..
July 24, 2009
And it was its usual trip full of disappointments. Every year, I get really excited about China then once I get there, I realize why I hate going there. Anyway, this year it was for my grandpa’s funeral which means I had to deal with my mother’s side of the family. Just to get this straight, I hate my mom’s side (excluding the 2 families that live in the US). My mother’s family in China is a mix of greedy, judging, fake bitches. Not to mention her school friends are the exact same. They all put on that fake nice smile and sweetly comment about how fat you’ve gotten. Ugh… actually, that basically describes a great majority of all people in China. They’re selfish, obnoxious, and have a significantly impaired sense of hygiene. From this point on, I’m officially calling myself Japanese.
Okay, enough ranting. While my time in China could be described as miserable, I did manage to make some use of my time there. In Shanghai, I actually managed to find a theater who was playing Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince in English (score!) So I ended up seeing the movie about the same time as all those who went to the midnight release in the Midwest USA (: In short, I loved it… I’ll talk more about HP in a later post.
Some of my more interesting pictures of the people of China…

A fake monk!

Pahaha, that girl thought she was the SHIT with her Minnie Mouse shoes.

It took me so long just to get a picture of him, haha.

Ew.
I have lots more pictures. I’ll be adding them gradually. I just wanted to get a post on here so you guys didn’t think I was abandoning you (:
XO, Becca.
