Hey guys, let’s talk Twilight! So I used to be the BIGGEST Twilight fan… I mean, you should see my room (I might upload a picture later) I’ve got a big poster of Edward/Bella, a Twilight calendar, Twilight t-shirts, the whole sha-bang. THEN all the weird girls started going public about their Twilight obsession. Weird as in the girls that have themselves tagged as anime characters on Facebook (but have NO pictures of themselves). They come to school wearing fishnets, waaaay too much eye-liner, and fingerless gloves. They loudly obsess over which old, wrinkly teacher they think is hot. I just really didn’t feel like being associated with them. So sadly, my obsession with Twilight had to go undercover. Not to mention, the Twilight movie came out. Ooh, the movie. Being a huge fan, I was deliriously happy with it coming out as a movie. I went to the midnight showing and immediately got the DVD the day it came out. Of course, even though I went crazy over it, I look back and I realize… the movie kind of sucked. It was reallllly cheesy, the CGI was kind of lame, and it just didn’t go as well as I would have wanted. Not to discredit any of the hard work the actors, staff, and director did. I just felt that there was too much emphasis on the romance between Edward and Bella. The fight scene was really good, though, and I enjoyed it!

Now, New Moon is a whole different story. July 15 guys, it’s coming up! There’s a few things I like about New Moon:

  • New director Chris Weitz! I love the vibe he’s giving New Moon. It’s so much better than Twilight. New Moon has that sort of adventure feel while Twilight seemed to emphasize the romance between Edward Cullen and Bella Swann.
  • The teaser trailer came out in HD a couple days ago and it was AWESOME. Jacob’s transformation was amazing and everything went together so well. They did such a good job with this trailer! (MUCH better than Twilight, remember the over-dramatic “Nothing will ever be the same”? Yikes.) Also, Laurent’s eye-color? Amazing job. The detail is great! Oh and Jacob Black. Mmm, his trips to the gym are paying off. He looks hot. I was kind of shocked by how cute and cuddly Jacob looked as a wolf, but now that I think about it, he’s not supposed to look scary. Bella never mentioned that the wolves were scary, she often even described them as beautiful. So, job well done on the wolves as well. One last thing: Bella’s eyebrow raise when she asked Edward to kiss her. Did you like that or not? I didn’t mind it so much, I mean, it was kind of weird… but I think it’ll probably make sense with more context.

  • The movie poster is dark, but simple. I really like it. I especially like the fact that Bella is in the arms of Jacob. I think that was really smart because it’ll definitely get people’s attention! I also really liked the fact that Summit didn’t try to cram as many characters as possible onto the poster.

Basically, the hype over the New Moon movie has reignited my Twilight obsession and now, weird girls aside, I’m declaring my love for Twilight loud and proud (: Also, listening to my favorite podcast “Imprint” (check them out http://www.twilightsource.com) has gotten me pumped for the movie.

I’m not sure how often I’m going to be posting a new blog, it depends on when I get my new computer because I really don’t feel like typing a huge blog on my iTouch… but keep tuned in, I’ll be back! And I also want your opinions on Twilight, New Moon, and anything else I talked about so leave me a comment.

XO, Becca
